218 With a ‘vav’ or without I gave the contractor the text of the inscription to be engraved on the tomb. After consulting with the Rav’s son, Rav David, over the precise spelling of the name of the Rav’s mother, Tufacha, I was told that it was to be spelled without the Hebrew letter ‘vav.’ A few days later, I received a rough draft of the words waiting to be engraved, and everything was in order, including the proper spelling of the name of the Rav’s mother. I gave the contractor the go- ahead. In order to engrave, special rubber templates, with the words cut out, are placed onto the stone slabs. Then, strong sand blasters etch the words into the stone. These words were compiled by great Rabbis, by Harav Mordechai Eliyahu zt”l and his brother, Harav Naim ben Eliyahu shlita, and are meant to remain until the day of Resurrection, with the coming of the Messiah. When I arrived at the cemetery the next day, the contractor told me that they had worked all night in order to ¿nish their work before the thirtieth day com- memoration services. Thus the large crowds could attend and ¿nd everything ready. I carefully read the inscription etched onto the marble, and couldn’t believe The Rav is buried in the Har Tamir section of Har Hamenuchot belonging to the Iraqi Jewish community
