The Wonders of Harav Yitzchack Kadouri
85 A match made in Heaven The relationship between Shalom and Simcha, on the color- ful streets of Paris, did not bear results. (ach of them lived at their parents’ home, and prayed to G-d that He should send them the spouse who would be right for them. They had both reached the right age, and they desired to found a Jewish home. “We knew each other for ¿ve years without our ever ¿nding anything in common.” “Once I went to a Torah shiur and amongst the large crowd, I noticed Simcha, smiling and content,” tells Shalom. “We exchanged telephone numbers, and time passed. Five years passed, without moving forward. One day, after returning home, I learnt that Harav Kadouri was in Paris. I went to him and asked for a blessing to ¿nd my match. The Rav gave me ¿ve chapters of Psalms to read for the next forty days, at the end of which I would meet my better half. I did as the Rav instruc- ted, and amazingly, on the fortieth day, Simcha phoned me. Thank G-d, since then she has become my wife, until !” “We had four sons, thank G-d, and at the beginning of the ¿fth pregnancy, I visited the Rav’s home and begged him to be blessed with a daughter. The Rav prayed for us, and told me that this year we would have a girl. That is what happened. After four boys, my wife delivered a baby girl. The Rav had almost prophetic powers, giving blessings and instructing others what to do to merit salvation. He promised me that I would ¿nd my helpmate after forty days, and later told me that we would be blessed with a baby girl. My requests were ans- wered without impediment, thanks to the blessings and prayers of the Rav.” This is what King David said, “G-d is close to all those who call upon Him, to all those who sincerely pray to Him.” The Rav worked hard in order to reach such a high level of purity and righteousness. This requires assiduousness in one’s Torah studies and in developing a heightened degree of fear of G-d. The Rav in Paris
