50 The Rav, hiding behind Harav Moshe Adess zt”l, amidst other Kabbalists Rav Kadouri sat opposite Harav Adess, who asked him on which tractate of the Talmud he wanted to be tested on. One after the other, the Rav answered each question, swiftly and to the point. Rav Adess turned the pages of the Talmud and picked another tosafot. Again the Rav answered, as if he had it in his back pocket. Harav Adess was astounded by his quick grasp and breadth of knowledge, and immediately turned to him DQG VDLG ³<RX DUH DFFHSWHG LQWR WKH \HVKLYD ´ This is how the Rav entered the shiur (class) of Harav Adess, despite his being much older than the other students. The Rav was already forty years old, and the other students were barely turning twenty. He sat and learned with the younger students at age forty.” The Rav was there for a year, and only then joined the group of older, married students in the main study hall.
