The Wonders of Harav Yitzchack Kadouri

294 Once, a child was brought to him who barked like a dog. The Rav took a piece of paper and wrote on it holy names and then placed it under his head. The boy was immediately healed. A young girl with an evil spirit was brought to the Rav. As soon as the Rav saw her, he yelled one word, “Go,” and immediately her situation became better, and eventually she was healed completely. Many barren women who had been married for a long time and had given up hope of ever having children came to the Rav for a blessing. The Rav wrote an amulet for the, and they merited hav- ing children. As a sign of there gratitude, they honored the Rav with being the Sandek by their son’s circumcision, and calling the child ‘Yitzchak’ in his honor. When the Rav acted as Sandek , he wore his tallit and te¿llin , as is the custom in Jerusalem. Before the circumcision, he would say the traditional l’Shem Yichud said by the Sandek , from his own handwritten piece of paper. The Rav also advised to practice various segulot . To a barren woman he said that as the father buries the foreskin of the cir- cumcision, she should look at the knife which performed the procedure, fresh with blood. She should then say the words, “The food of the snake is dirt.” Another segulah the Rav said was bene¿cial to have a baby boy, was the following. Both the father and the mother should say the verse, “Moshe commanded us the Torah, an inheritance for the congregation of Israel,” while having in mind the Hebrew initial letters of these words, which are a holy name. They should do this speci¿cally while they read the verse from print and not from memory.
