The Wonders of Harav Yitzchack Kadouri
287 How overjoyed we were, when only eight months later, against all odds, we were invited to Yosef’s inauguration ce- remony for his ¿nished apartment. All’s well that ends well. May the blessing of G-d rest upon his house. All of the owners whom we prayed for also received their apartments in their entirety, in the merit of the Rav. The miracle of the eternal candle We keep a long-burning candle lit by the tomb of the Rav in his memory. My friend, Rav Michael ben Abu comes by to light it, on a constant basis. It consists of a long wick and a large container of olive oil, which we keep lit 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As it is always burning, there is a buildup of black residue caused by the burning wick. Thus, when Rav Michael comes to re¿ll the lamp with oil and replace the wick, he also cleans out the residue. I distinctly remember the second time that he came to light the wick. He asked me, “Do you have any wipes to clean the lamp?” I told him, “One second,” and entered the edi¿ce. I saw one lone man standing there, and I asked him, “Do you have any wipes?” Wondrously, he did, as he was holding a small bag containing a package of wipes. That was all he had with him, just wipes. It was as if he was waiting for us, almost as if he came here only for that purpose. How great are the ways of G-d. Since then, Rav Michael has always lit the candle in the tomb. The eye pains that vanished One of the regular visitors to the tomb of the Rav is a special person by the name of Yosef David. Once, he told me of pains he was experiencing in his eyes, for a period of two months. These pains disturbed him greatly, inhibiting his work and causing dif¿culty while driving. I told him to stop by the tomb and I would give him an amulet of the Rav’s, intended for healing afÀictions of the eyes. Yosef though was unable to come. He was prevented by various deterrents. Even after my constant pleading with him to come, it was only some two weeks after we spoke on the phone that he was able to come and pick up the amulet. The next day he called to tell me that, thank G-d, his eyes were much better. The pains had completely gone away, in the merit of Harav Yitzchak Kadouri zt”l.
