The Rav spent a great deal of his time trying to help people. Although in later years he was unable to have visitors due to poor health, in earlier years there were hardly any restrictions. Wherever he went, people would come over to him and ask for a blessing, and he made the effort to bless them. Harav Aharon Adess shlita once told me that for many years, the Rav would pray at the Kotel Hama’aravi (Wailing Wall) on the intermediate days of Sukkot. $V KH ZRXOG IXO¿OO WKH PLW]YDK RI WKH IRXU VSHFLHV LQ WKH VXNNDK DW WKH IDU HQG of the plaza, a custom praised by Rav Chaim Vital, he would walk to the front of the plaza in order to pray at the Wall for the Musaf Prayers. This relatively short distance would take almost an hour for him to walk, as crowds of people would approach him, asking for a blessing. He would listen to each person with tremendous patience, and bless each one accordingly, adding special prayers and verses as necessary. He did so while standing the entire time, despite being over eighty years old and not eating the entire morning until returning home. Great people highly valued his blessings. I heard from my father, Hagaon Harav Yehudah Adess shlita, head of Yeshivat Kol Yaakov, that when Rav Yitzchak Abramsky D VWXGHQW RI 5DY &KDLP IURP %ULVN DQG DXWKRU RI &KD]RQ <HFKH]NLHO ERUQ LQ DQG GLHG LQ was very sick, he asked my father to accompany him to Harav Kadouri for a blessing. My father, who knew that Rav Abramsky had a heart condition, did not want him to travel, and so he arranged for Harav Kadouri to come to the house and bless him. I heard from Harav Kadouri that he learned by my grandfather, Harav Yaakov Adess, for half a year. My father told me that his father held highly of Harav Kadouri. I think that they learned together one-on-one and not in the regular classroom setting. Rav Kadouri’s son, Rav David, told me that my grandfather was instrumental in his father entrance into Yeshivat Porat Yosef.
