What one focuses on when doing mitzvoth and serving G-d and how much one yearns for His Presence, become the major factor in spiritual predominance. Another factor is one’s general thoughts. The more G-d becomes the center of our attention and closeness to the Creator our goal, the greater our level. Included in the adherence to G-d’s precepts is not to get caught up with materialistic possessions or physical pleasures. Even though a person must, of necessity, involve himself with matters pertaining to the physical world, his mind should focus and be attuned to G-d and His Torah, above all else. Lesson Four This concept, that our spiritual level and supernatural powers are very much linked to our focus on G-d, is mentioned in many works. We will quote a number of places that Rabbi Yosef Karo zt”l, author of the Code of Jewish Law, writes about this topic in his work Maggid Meisharim. Hence strengthen yourself to focus your entire mind on me. If you do so, you will perform miracles, just as the Tanaim of the Talmudic era, and the entire world will know that there is a G-d in Israel.
