The Wonders of Harav Yitzchack Kadouri
180 The one who reached great heights, the lion from amongst us, a man of strength and a mighty warrior in the battle of Torah. He was knowledgeable in all matters of Kabbalah and meditations during prayer. There was nothing that we would ask him which he did not have an answer for. He stood in the breach to stem the tide, and was Àuent in all areas of Torah, learning amidst purity and sanctity. He prayed according to the prayer book of the saintly Rashash, aiding all Jews with his prayer or amulets. The ways of the Talmud were clear to him like the paths of his home town, constantly learning without taking credit for his achievements. He was humble like the great sage Hillel, worthy of praise as we say in Hallel, and he raised up many students in the study of the Eitz Chaim, as his Yeshivat Nachalat Yiztchak can testify. The Angel of Peace is there to greet him, as his passing is like the sun setting in midday; he had the blessings of the Ben Ish Chai, who no doubt is now going forth to meet him. He taught us to learn the Zohar, may Gan Eden be his portion and may he have eternal rest. We pray on behalf of his only son, who took care of him so lovingly, and for his wife who stood by his side. Similarly for his only daughter we pray, as well as his grandchildren, and on behalf of all the Rabbis and people assembled here today. Rabbosei! All of Israel should weep over the tragedy which has befallen us, which G-d has wrought. Who can compare to the Rav? He was knowledgeable in the entire Talmud, not just in the secrets of Kabbalah. He was familiar with every tractate. Whenever we sat down to learn, the Rav would show us every source…immediately. Whether it was in the Talmud, or the Early or Later Authorities, in the Code of Jewish Law or its commentaries, the Rav would show us where. The one whose glory is his, the Shemonah Shearim etched into his heart.
