170 Harav Ovadiah Yosef shlita asked at the beginning of his eulogy for everyone to have consideration for those near them and not to push. Unfortunately, the police lost control, and there was tremendous pushing all along the route of the pro- cession of those trying to reach the bier of the Rav. Here and there the crowd surged forward, trying once and again to come closer. The pushing reached its peak after Rav Yaakov Adess shlita said kaddish when the bier took to the streets. A tremendous effort ensued of people trying to get a glimpse or to touch the bier. This was despite the publicized request of the organizers that only those who had immersed themselves in a mikvah would be allowed to touch or carry the stretcher. After several minutes, total mayhem ensued. There was no way to stop the pushing, as even those who tried were swept up in the surge forward. Thirty police of¿cers tried valiantly to resist the wave of First-aid motorcycles strenuously making their way
