125 Rav Bentzion, one of the cantors of the Rav Rav Ezariyah Mualam, the of¿cial cantor for the last few years of the Rav The numerical value In his last few years, the Rav was aided every morning by Rav Ben Tzion Yashar, who would help him walk to the synagogue, situated next door to his house. The entire congregation waited for the Rav to appear, some wishing to touch his robe or kiss his hand (as per the Sephardic custom.) Upon taking his seat next to the cantor, Rav Ben Tzion would chant the Morning Prayers sweetly, as the Rav kept along with his ¿nger on the place. Says Rav Ben Tzion, that once he was uncertain whether the soul of the Rav contained a spark from the soul of Moses. According to his calculations, the numerical value of the Hebrew words ‘Yitzchak Kadouri’ had an equal value as the name Moshe, when spelled out in full (with each letter spelled out in its entirety) . He approached the Rav and asked him his question, whereupon the Rav ans- wered in the positive. Coming close to the Tzaddik Rav Avraham (Abi) Gabai, who holds a senior posi- tion in the upper echelons of the Israeli Government, came every day to pray in the same quorum as the Rav. His presence there led to an interesting phe- nomenon. As well-known, many people came to the Rav to receive berachot , as the Rav would accept people from all walks of life amiably and with a plentitude of smiles, blessing them with success.
