The Wonders of Harav Yitzchack Kadouri
97 would honor them with a visit to the inauguration of their new building. As customary by such ceremonies, a distinguished Rav is asked to af¿x a mezuzah upon the doorway of the building and to say a few words. As it was well-known that the Rav never spoke in public, the obvious choice for a speaker was the Rav’s close disciple, Harav Nissim Teherani shlita. Rav Nissim, though, apologized for his inability to speak, as he had a sore throat. When he explained to the Rav his refusal to speak, the Rav told him, “Don’t worry. You will speak and everyone will hear you.” The Rav took a candy out from his pocket and handed it to Harav Teherani. “Make a berachah (blessing) on this and you will see wonders,” said the Rav. Sure enough, Harav Teherani ate the candy, after making a berachah with intent, as his teacher instructed. His voice regained its former luster and he was able to captivate the audience at the building inauguration with his beautiful words as the Rav looked on. Caring for his students Harav Yosef Chaim Gadol shlita, one of the close students of the Rav for many years, shares with us some of the unique qualities of the Rav. “(very student who merited learning under the Rav’s tutelage received his own undi- vided attention.
