79 His smile never left his face. The only exception was when the Rabbanit Sarah Sadira passed away. His face showed signs of sadness. On the seventh day of mourning, the Rav spoke words of Torah, a shiur (lecture) which covered all areas of To- rah; Peshat, Remez, Drush, and Sod . The compassionate Sandek Harav Reuven (lbaz shlita, head of the Ohr Hachaim institutions in Jerusa- lem, knew the Rav well and had tremendous respect for him. Rav (lbaz was a Mohel , and more than once of¿ciated at circumcisions in which Rav Yitzchak Kadouri acted as the Sandak . Said Rav (lbaz, “After performing the circumci- sion, the child would invariably start to cry. The Rav, ¿lled with compassion, immediately inquired, “Where is his paci¿er? Where is his paci¿er? Give him his paci¿er so he shouldn’t cry!!” The Rav could not bear hearing a baby cry at his circumcision. How much more so was the Rav unable to sit passively by when a man or woman came looking for some relief from their predicament and poured out their hearts to him, crying bitter tears. He tried to hide the tears which glittered in his eyes, and truly felt their pain. He would pray and plead on their behalf and sometimes write an amulet, all with loving kindness and forbearance, dealing with each person according to their needs.
