The Wonders of Harav Yitzchack Kadouri

72 Keeping the laws of Shabbat The following story I heard from Harav Teherani shlita. A man from Kfar Yonah asked him to request from the Rav an amulet. After insisting a number of times that he was in des- perate need, Rav Teherani approached the Rav for an amulet. The Rav then proceeded to write one immediately, speci¿cally for this person. However, this amulet had no effect. The man returned to Rav Teherani and asked him to ask the Rav why it didn’t work. The Rav answered that he should observe the laws of Shabbat, and would be helped immediately. This precious man took upon himself to keep Shabbat, and was blessed with success. The cup of salvation… My close friend, good-hearted and pleasant to all, Rav Aharon Destouri, served the Rav for many years. Day and night he saw to the Rav’s needs. The Rav guided him how to write the sacred names (which generally appear on amulets) without making mistakes. My friend merited this special guidance, as he ow- ned a factory which produced cups used for Kiddush (the blessing said over wine on Shabbat) . On these cups would be inscribed the names of the four rivers which Àowed from the Garden of (den, as well as some sacred names. He crafted some speci¿cally for the Rav and did so without the usual slew of mistakes found by other craftsmen. Even the gentiles honored him… The head of Yeshivat Minchat Yehudah , Harav Yehudah Moutsa¿ shlita, was close to the Rav for the last forty years of his life. He was there at the time of the Rav’s passing, together with Rav (liyahu Mizrachi, who accompanied the Rav to every prayer wherever the Rav went. They pointed out one aspect of the Rav’s greatness. He constantly minimized any indulgence of food or sleep, and always sought to increase his Torah learning.
