The Wonders of Harav Yitzchack Kadouri
68 The Miracles of the Rav Rav Kadouri became well-known as a miracle worker, many years ago. From then on, throngs of people sought to meet the Rav to ask advice or receive a blessing. Rabbi Avraham Cohen, caretaker of the Mousayof synagogue where the Rav prayed for tens of years, recounts: “As is well known, there are hundreds of minyanim (quorums) of worshippers in the synagogue, every day. The Rav had a set place where he would pray, and the synagogue still has the lectern that the Rav used. After the Morning Prayers, many lined up to see the Rav’s radiant face or to receive a blessing.” Rav Avraham tells the following story. A cousin who lived in Kiryat Arba came to him, crying over the plight of his daughter. He asked Rav Avraham who he would suggest to approach for help, as his pregnant daughter had been experiencing strong stabs of pain for the past two weeks. “Go and get a blessing from Harav Kadouri,” I said. Immediately, his eyes lit up, and within minutes he knocked at the apartment of the Rav. He stood before the Rav, not uttering a sound, hoping for a blessing from the Rav. The Rav spoke, “Your daughter needs a hospital, not me.” The Rav was emphatic, “Take her to the hospital immediately.” And so he did. When they arrived, the doctors adminis- tered a battery of tests, and were horri¿ed to learn that the fetus had died some two weeks previously. How did the Rav know that she needed immediate medical attention and not a blessing to prolong the unborn child’s life? This is one of the signs of a truly righteous individual, as “G-d reveals His secrets to those who fear Him.” The Rav was a genius in all aspects of life, and saw, with almost prophe- tic vision, many hidden things, as testi¿ed by the countless stories of miracles that people me- rited, with the blessing of the Rav.
