Harav Yehoshua Sharabani zt”l 42 The Rav’s aliyah and his study of Torah The Rav was characterized by his wide-ranging knowledge and understanding of the secrets of the Torah. Although young in years, the Rabbis of that generation were concerned that his knowledge would bring an evil eye upon him. Thus they asked him not to display his knowledge or lecture before the public. He was also advised to make aliyah to Israel. And so, at the age of seventeen, the Rav found himself in Israel, at the Shoshanim LeDavid synagogue.
