The Wonders of Harav Yitzchack Kadouri

258 Hilulah was over, they asked him again why he looked so uncomfortable, almost as if he was disagreeing with someone. They also asked him to explain the words he said, “And his soul was bound up with his.” The Rav answe- red that when it looked as if he was disagreeing with someone in middle of the Hilulah , he was actually arguing with the Àaming Angel of Evil, the Satan. “He came to warn me that in another seven years, two thirds of the Jewish nation would be wiped out, G-d forbid. I, being Àesh and blood, fought with the Satan, and thank G-d, suc- ceeded in overpowering him and annulling the evil decree.” But regarding the cryptic words, “And his soul w a s bound up with his,” the Rav still did not explain. Several months later, the ‘Babi Sali’ passed away, not before saying those ¿nal words, “May my passing atone for all of Israel.” And his soul was bound up with his “The tzaddik was lost…” A tremendous funeral took place, with people arri- ving from all over Israel, accompanying the tzaddik on his ¿nal journey. This was in Netivot in southern Israel, on the fourth of Shevat, 19 4. After the funeral, the general public returned home, save for the four who were close to the Rav, who never made it back. A terrible tragedy ensued. The four were killed in a car crash, as their car overturned on the way home, killing them instantly. Many pointed to their deaths as the ful¿llment of the Rav’s cryptic words, the intent of the Rav words when he said, “And his soul was bound up with his,” hinting at what would occur to them at his own funeral. They were involved in bringing the ‘Babi Sali’ to his ¿nal resting place, only to escort him into the next world as well. Making a blessing over wine
