The Wonders of Harav Yitzchack Kadouri
250 What was the laughter all about?... The story I am about to tell you should move you, and its bafÀing enigma should make your hair stand on end. One af- ternoon, during the cold Jerusalem winter of 2006, Harav Darazi visited the house of the Rav. For a change, though, they asked to be left alone, without ha- ving anyone else present. Some deep secrets must have been discussed there. The Rav’s room was ¿lled with Jewish books covering all topics, Talmud, Halachah, and Kabbalah. Who knows what they spoke about! As they exited, they were laughing for some hidden reason, enjoying their secret. When asked by family members what the laughter was all about, they refused to reveal the reason why, even after repeated requests. A little more than a month later, Harav Darazi passed away, on a Shabbat afternoon, as the congregation said the words, “And for me, a prayer to you, G-d, at this auspicious occasion.” At the same time, Harav Kadouri said to those around him, “The soul of Harav Darazi has been withdrawn and has now left us.” No one told the Rav that Harav Darazi zt”l passed away. One shudders to think that at almost the same time, Rav Kadouri was admitted to the hospital, and merely one month later, also passed away. Perhaps this was the reason for the mirth and the shared secret between them. Perhaps they knew already then, that the next time they would meet would be in the next world. Harav Darazi on the left , Harav Kadouri in the middle , and Harav Atun on the right , all of blessed memory
