21 Introduction By Harav Yaakov Adess shlita Harav Yitzchak Kadouri became world renown for his ability to work wonders, his blessings often achieving almost miraculous results over a wide range of areas. Many people want to know – from where did he derive such powers? How did he conduct himself and accomplish what he did? Only the Rav himself could truly answer these questions. Out of modesty and humility, the Rav did not speak about himself or reveal the source of his ‘supernatural’ powers, or even discuss them. There were times, however, when the Rav would hint at answers to these questions, and the following words are based on what he said. Lesson One The primary source of Kabbalah in the last few centuries was Harav Yitzchak Luria Ashkenazi, known as the Ari z”l. Rav Chaim Vital wrote a number of long works, deep esoteric treatments on this subject, which form the starting point for all those who delve into Kabbalah today. The Zohar, the basis and foundation of Kabbalah, written some two thousand years ago, can only be properly understood after initializing oneself with the works of Rav Chaim Vital, based upon the teachings of the Ari.
