The Wonders of Harav Yitzchack Kadouri
200 The Rav with Harav Shaul Katzin shlita Coming close to the Tzaddik Dear reader, imagine someone in the middle of a desert who sees a black dot on the horizon. From afar, he may not be able to distinguish any details, but at every step that he advances, he sees more and more. He begins to see the shape of a building, which soon turns into a large palace. Getting closer, he now distinguishes the wings of the building and individual rooms. Eventually he comes close enough to enter its palatial doors and perceives its exquisite beauty and magni¿cent craftsmanship. Similarly, when one stands far away from a tzaddik, he ¿nds it hard to dis- tinguish any marks of greatness or perfection of character. His presence looks merely like a black dot on the horizon. Only when a person comes closer to the tzaddik does he recognize his true greatness. Every step he takes towards the tzaddik increases his scope of vision. We saw Harav Kadouri from up front. We witnessed what was pos- sible from his actions, although whatever he revealed to others was only the tip of the iceberg. The Rav concealed his greatness and knowledge, trying to hide himself from the limelight and glare of publicity.
